Course Synopsis

This course introduces students to ubiquitous communication; wireless transmission technologies: signal propagation, modulation, multiplexing, medium access control; fundamentals of cellular telephony: frequency reuse, cell splitting, registration, handover, GPRS, authentication, security, 2G, 3G, 4G; wireless LAN, WAN, Bluetooth, mobile IP etc. The course prepares students to design wireless networks with different types of devices. The course includes continuous assessment in the form of Mid Term examinations, assignments and term papers.
